cloront a dream play

Cloront is an entirely student-written play that was developed during a collaboration with El Dorado High School Studio 81. Teaching artists form See The Elephant led “Collaborative Playmaking”, a year-long class with select theater students in the department and developed this piece, from page to stage.

Cloront, a Dream Play delves into the anxieties of the contemporary teenage experience amidst social pressures, tests of success, and technology defining identity. This multi-layered play follows Jane who finds herself in a school-like dystopian environment and follows a mysterious girl named Anna. As Jane gets further immersed in this world, she is interrupted by memories of herself as a child. We come to realize that Jane is processing something deeper- the loss of her mother. Anna ultimately helps Jane to shed the expectations she has put on herself and remember the encouraging words had given her to be the best she be even when things are difficult.
