Formed in 2017, See The Elephant is a new theatre and dance company based in the foothills of El Dorado.

At See The Elephant…we believe the creation of live performance is a journey itself; to seek in the place that we live an active engagement with each other that takes us beyond our comfort zones & speaks to a shared humanity.

See The Elephant!

What's in a name?

"Seeing the elephant" means going into the unknown, going deeper into one's experiences of a place to learn of its actualities. The act of "seeing the elephant" takes us on a journey. Through theatrical storytelling & dance, we hope to learn & grow, to investigate our identities & purposes.

Making Performing Arts Accessible

Traveling Tales

See The Elephant recently launched a pilot program called Traveling Tales that brings storytelling, puppetry, and film to youth in the El Dorado County region. Our mission with this program is to use puppetry and performance to ignite the imagination, lift spirits, and foster empathy. Recent projects have used 2-d puppets & stop motion animation to bring stories to life. Visit TravelingTales.net to learn more & explore videos.

We are a rural-based theatre and dance company. We will strive to bring the most exceptional theatre and dance experiences to those that have least access. To do this, we will focus on the needs of our rural community, bring shows and opportunities to the outskirts, and partner with organizations to reach the most people.
